- For the past 3 seasons we have been using this “Compete-Train-Compete” concept in the preparation period leading into the Danish Open for both the Great Danes in January and now the Senior Team in March. The competitions are Long Course and with a high degree of competition with top swimmers in Europe. With many of the swimmers fresh off training camps over the past couple of weeks a perfect opportunity to test their preparation status with two back to back competitions increasing number of quality races and a conversion from training to racing, as well some very good learning and feedback for both coaches and swimmers. A good opportunity to fine tune the skills and tactics in preparation for the Danish Open in April. To date these Euro Tours have also brought the coaches together for a period of time to share ideas, collaborate training and strengthen the relationship and share the common vision toward high performance swimming for Denmark.
Herom forklarer Dean Boles.
- The Technical Camp portion is a great opportunity for both coaches and swimmers to work together as a national team in a training and learning environment. The Belgium Training Centre is equipped with 6 cameras (3 above water and 3 underwater. Full analysis of starting and turning skills can be measured and analyzed with valuable feedback. The same for the full stroke of the swimming. We then can take the areas that require attention to improve and create exercises in the water to help improve the overall swimming stroke or starts and turns. Having bio mechanical experts like Stijn Cortin who leads the technical program for Belgium swimming and Christian Timm Kejser Hartz from Team Denmark who will work closely with the coaches and swimmers in follow-up. The swimmers will have an intensive 4 days with 2 ½ hours of water training followed by 1 hour of video recording and feedback and then another 2 ½ hours of training in the afternoon. Extra time set aside for further debrief of the video sessions.
- The key reason of going to Antwerp is the facility with the video analysis system. It is a permanent camera setup that is dedicated to high performance use and access. Having the Performance Analyst as well assisting in the process of feedback is very helpful. Equally as important as in when clubs go away on training camp is the ability to focus on the tasks without distraction. Good for both coaches and swimmers to build a shared focus and relationship with high performance development in mind, says Dean Boles.
- It is the intent that the competition will be strong, new faces to race which will help bring the best out of the Danish swimmers. Another good opportunity to see where the swimmers are in their preparation coming off of a focused training period.
- With many of the swimmers fresh off training camps over the past couple of weeks a perfect opportunity to test their preparation status with two back to back competitions increasing number of quality races and a conversion from training to racing, as well some very good learning and feedback for both coaches and swimmers.
